FREEDOM FOR ZHAO DONG-MIN!
Workers, students and lawyers demonstrate in front of China Embassy in Brasilia

The words demanding "Freedom for Zhao-Dong-min ", yelled in Portuguese and English, echoed embassy sector in Brasilia, last Thursday, November 18. The demonstrators who were posted in outside the main gate of China Embassy in Nations Avenue, 813 block, bore two large banners which stamped the picture of Chinese lawyer Zhao Dong-min, banners calling for his immediate release, as well as flags of the entities.
The protest demonstration against the illegal arrest and against the absurd 3 years imprisonment conviction imposed on the Chinese lawyer Zhao Dong-min, was organized by ABRAPO – Brazilian Association of People,s Lawyers, IAPL – International Association of People,s Lawyers, Workers League and Cebraspo – Brazilian Center of Solidarity with the Peoples. Workers, lawyers and Law students showed the total repudiation of the fascist policy of China government to prosecute and imprison those who fight against the regime of slavery and cutting rights to which workers are subjected in the country.

Showing the same arbitrary and authoritarian attitude of its government, and total unpreparedness for the exercise of diplomatic functions, the Chinese Ambassador in Brazil, Qiu Xiaoqi, refused to receive the document prepared by the organizers of the protest. The attitude of the ambassador was to trigger the military police, which immediately cordoned off the entrance to the embassy. A delegation of representatives from entities stood at the gate of the representation of China, which remained closed all the time. Hysterical screaming in Chinese delivered from inside the embassy were heard outside the walls causing laughter among the demonstrators.
