Abhay Sahu, leader of anti-POSCO movement arrested

Friends,
Yesterday Abhay Sahoo, leader of anti-POSCO movement, was arrested.
POSCO is atypical case of whether people's rights prevail over the predatory acts of a company largely owned by American and European financial interests. It is not a Korean company; the faces may be Korean, the controlling ownership lies with American and Belgian banks and private interests.
The Central Government and the Odisha Government are complicit in this anti-national act of American and European banksters led integrated steel firm. India has enough steel making skill; WE DON'T NEED POSCO; WE DON'T NEED FOREIGN DIRECT INVESTMENT IN MINING; AND WE DON'T NEED ANYONE TO OWN AND OPERATE A PRIVATE PORT.
WE DON'T NEED FOREIGN DIRECT INVESTMENT PAID FOR IN TOILET PAPER DOLLARS, PRINTED IN PRIVATE CURRENCY PRINTING PRESS OF AMERICAN BANKSTERS. THE PEOPLE OF INDIA DO NOT WANT TO SELL THEIR SCARCE RESOURCE, THEIR PRECIOUS LANDS AGAINST TOILET PAPER DOLLAR. THIS ISSUE IS PROPERLY UNDERSTOOD BY SCHOOL GOING CHILDREN OF THE THREE VILLAGES.
[More on this when I complete my review for my editor]
Wemet Abhay Sahoo and his team on 7th afternoon somewhere near Dhenkia andinterviewed local farmers, had lunch at a farmer's house, and returned later that day to Bhuvaneshwar. [WE=my friends]
The company is insistingonhaving a private port [under SEZ rules]. This is extremely dangerous in the present times. There is already a large Paradeep port barely five kilometers from the site preferred by POSCO.
The steel mill [their 12 MTPA] can be located away from inhabited area.
The three Gram Panchayats have stable livelihood; not affluent but very sustainable and enough to maintain decent life for all.
That livelihood system for 22,000 peoplewill be destroyed by POSCO.
I asked Abhay what message he has for the people of America he replied that the American people should look at their own lives how their own corporations behave and have destroyed their lives. And these corporations are doing the same thing to relatively poor people of India. I asked him this question because I write for Salem-News, an Oregon-based on-line newspaper run by Tim King, a Vietnam-war veteran and a war correspondent.
PLEASE SUPPORT ANTI-POSCO MOVEMENT. AFTER ABHAY'S ARREST, THE SECOND LINE OF COMMAND IS IN PLACE. THE POLICE IS USING ALL SORTS OF REPRESSIVE MEASURES INCLUDING FALSE CHARGES IMPLICATING MEN AND WOMEN.
MORE ON THIS LATER.
KIND REGARDS
ARUN SHRIVASTAVA
